A Busy Lifestyle Shouldn’t Get In The Way Of Healthy Eating
Life in the 21st century is fast, unpredictable and often stressful. Daily activities do not always allow us to sit down, take a minute, relax and lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. Very often we do it in a hurry and rely on takeaways, which as we all know aren’t always considered the healthiest option, but this is where Abd El Wahab differs.
We all know traditional Lebanese food is delicious, and surprisingly amidst all those wonderful flavours are some real health benefits too!
For instance, vegetable or olive oil, instead of cooking with butter or cream. Olive oil is full of mono-unsaturated fatty acids which control your blood sugar levels, lowering cholesterol and keeping your heart healthy. Often used in dressings for Lebanese salads, it contains all the health benefits and still tastes great! Take a look at our menu and choose your favourite salad!
Lebanese cuisine differs from many others as it uses fewer starchy ingredients. For example, small amounts of rice and lentils instead of big portions of potatoes or noodles.
Another key factor to our healthy cuisine is the carefully selected fresh herbs and spices that go in to making Lebanese food so delicious and distinct. For example, we use fresh parsley in many of our dishes. It’s high in antioxidants and vitamin K which plays a key role in bone health.
Fresh za’atar is one of the most used spices in our kitchen and it has been linked to several health related benefits as said in Health Magazine, treating chronic diseases and clear respiratory tracts to increasing cognitive skills and energy.
In Lebanon the meat of choice has always been lamb. A high-quality protein source, containing all of the essential amino acids needed for the body’s growth and maintenance. It is also very rich source of minerals and vitamins, for example: Vitamin B12, Zinc, Vitamin B3, Iron, Selenium and many others. If you are a big fan of lamb, we recommend the Lamb Cutlets served here at Abd El Wahab.
Finally, let’s not forget whilst Lebanese food has some of the most delicious meat dishes, it’s equally well balanced with its focus on vegetarian foods, from hot or cold starters and salads including hommus, manoosh, tabbouleh, falafel, msakaa and many others.
So, the next time you want to order a takeaway, or simply drop in for a healthy alternative, give us a call or come and dine with us at Abd El Wahab.
